Warburg Dillon Read's Tinker: Comment on Vodafone (Correct)
By David Tweed

(Corrects spelling of Warburg Dillon Read in headline)

London, Feb. 11 (Bloomberg) - The following is a comment on
Vodafone AirTouch Plc and Mannesmann AG by Mark Tinker, head of
European equity strategy at Warburg Dillon Read.

``Today is a big Vodafone scramble day,' said Mark Tinker,
head of European equity strategy at Warburg Dillon read. ``People
are raising money to buy Vodafone by selling a basket of the most
liquid FT-SE 100 stocks.'
``A lot of trackers will be buying Vodafone and Mannesmann on
the closing bell and selling the FT-SE or the DAX. This is not a
day for fundamentals. It is a day of technical buying and
selling.'
``Vodafone will represent 12 percent of the FT-SE All-Share
and 14 percent of the FT-SE 100. The current market capitalization
of the combined Vodafone-Mannesmann group would make it the
largest sector in its own right and over two thirds the size of
the U.S. gilt market.'
