That is true. However, as you can see from our arguments about it, this Civil War business is serious on both sides, and there was the additional argument that Reagan, who was already under attack for being (as the Marxists say) "objectively racist", didn't need to appoint someone who could be portrayed as a Confederate sympathizer. Finally, it should be noted that not all paleos are pro-South, anyway.......
