so it seems the anticipated IBM deal with ARBA was awarded to SEBL instead.

Someone more knowledgeable correct me if I'm wrong, but the SEBL deal was simply for Customer Relation Management software to be installed company-wide. They aren't doing anything like setting up a trading web or otherwise handling the procurement end of IBM. Hence, this deal does not preclude a deal with Ariba from being done as well.

The market seems to agree, as ARBA is trying to hold on to a gain in a strongly down market.
