Annette, I am old neighborhood activist. During the late 70's we fought the city, the state, and the feds to stop an interstate through our neighborhood. With the help of Andy Young and Jimmy Carter, we stopped. Then in the early 80's we had to fight the city, the state, the feds, Andy Young, and ex-president Jimmy Carter to stop the same damn road. (Jimmy needed a place to build his library and the state offered him a "roadside park" for free, but first there needed to be a road.)

The friggin highway builders blighted the neighborhood for years until we whipped their asses in the courts and at the polling booths.

The key is organization, organization, organization. Politicians melt like butter when the voters raise hell. Especially the middle class homeowners. The only solution to apathy is a sense of hope through a group of leaders.

Sorry for the rant, but this shit pisses me off so bad I can't stand it!

OT, RE: Tree planting

Annette, place a row of at least 7-9 Sugar Maples 50' apart on on of the edges of your property. You and future generations will always be grateful when the fall arrives.
