Nothing in your posting is new news. If your going to get lathered up on every piece of Microsoft PR in the next 2 weeks slow down your going to get quite a workout...why not think back to 1996 - 8 full page ads in the WSJ from HP, IBM, CPQ, Unisys all in support of Microsoft's Scalability day - wow the biggest Computer Makers in the world all coming out to support NT - Vendors were showing large scale NT based OLTP systems, NEC even trotted out a NT Mainframe - Merced just around the corner - poor Sun! Bill's keynote message was that NT was ready to run the worlds biggest systems today (i mean back then). The internet hadnt quite hit the public consciousness so NT, DNA, MTS, ActiveX, Emerald were all a lot more relevant than Java, HTML, EJB Now flash forward a few years...Every one of those partners will do the same thing cause they dont want to miss the Win2k gravy train but many of them have stronger strategies around Unix, Linux, devices and the Web - the world has changed a lot and Microsoft is still playing the same game while the ground changes under its feet - Microsoft may be richer than it was 4 year ago but it is far weaker in having a grip on the market than it was then.
