The market seems to like the release too as the the stock is back up over $C20. Let's hope the new management is able to implement their new vision.

Attention Business/Technology Editors:

WEATHER 21 CHOOSES LEITCH VIDEO SERVER FOR SCALABILITY

TORONTO, March 28 /CNW/ - Leitch Technology Corporation (TSE:LTV) - a
leading provider of high quality digital video and audio solutions to the
broadcasting, telecommunications, cable and Internet industries - today
announced that Australia's Weather 21, a continuously updated, live on-air
weather presentation channel for the Austar Pay TV Network, is being
re-equipped with a new presentation system and equipment room designed around
the Leitch VR300 broadcast video server.
Designed and installed by Vision Impossible, a well-known television
engineering consultancy house in Australia, the system will fulfill a
requirement stipulating reliability and scalability to accommodate future
station expansion. "The upgrade from an analog to a digital system was made
necessary by changing technology and the need to meet future production
requirements," explained Vision Impossible's Richard Smith. "The availability
of the now very reliable broadcast server has eased the difficulty of
designing a scalable and expandable plant. We are very comfortable with the
Leitch VR300 as the platform for this system."
A major feature of Leitch's video server is the integrated automation
software which handles all commercial insertion needs, and provides versatile
automated management for all recorded content on the server. It imports
playlists from traffic computers and schedules, and controls playback of
commercials, promos, bumpers, news stories and other programming. The random
access database allows master control operators to instantly reconfigure
breaks, swapping out spot sequences even when playing to air.
The Leitch VR300, which is supplied and supported in Australia by Quantum
Pacific P/L, utilizes shared Fibre Channel storage and has 1 Gbps bandwidth
extended all the way to disk drive level, providing genuine data sharing, not
just file transfer. This allows all users simultaneous access to on-line
content, thus streamlining operations and boosting employee productivity.
Anticipating the installation of his new VR300-based presentation system,
Bill Edmonds of Weather 21 comments, "I am confident that the system's
flexibility and scalability will totally satisfy our current and future
station requirements. I am very much encouraged in the knowledge that Leitch
video server technology has been well tried and tested in many installations
throughout the world."
