On hackers

You know awhile back we had extensive discussions here about using Novell directory technology to create digital identity vaults. The notion being that you had a biometric device that you used to generate your user id, and a digitalme identity vault in which to store your digital identity. The idea was to deny hackers the ability to pose as you.

It sounds like the attackers in this denial of service approach had to have some way of compromising the servers they used to host the attack. Did they simply crack a user ID or did they invade the packets that circulate on the net directly?

Can someone elaborate.

HOLD ON THERE PEOPLE....

I think my light-hearted story was taken way too serious for some of you. The audience putting up their hands to the question posed to them was "In JEST". They were not making a serious decision that this was an effective way to respond to a denial of service attack. It was only a light-hearted story with a humorous ending. The audience was not stupid and didnt think that the bug in BM's code was an effective response to stop denial of service. They (as do I) know that the DofS hacker would likely not be affected and it would wreaked even more havoc on the Internet and on innocent victims.

I guess I will have to avoid telling light-hearted stories.
