e.DIGITAL CORPORATION EXPANDS SERVICES TO PROVIDE DSP SOLUTIONS FOR INTERNET COMPATIBLE PORTABLE DEVICES

Adds DSP Expertise to Support Growing List of OEM Customers

(SAN DIEGO, CA ? March 22, 1999) ? e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG) reported today that it is expanding its engineering services to include the implementation of DSP solutions. The Company announced that it has hired Kevin Bostenero, a senior digital signal processing (DSP) engineer, to head its expanding services for OEM customers.

Fred Falk, President and CEO of e.Digital, stated, "This addition to our engineering team expands the services we can offer our customers which include Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) and Lanier Worldwide, Inc. We also expect to announce new opportunities as a result of our expanded capabilities. Kevin will be the architect of custom DSP solutions specialized to the needs of our customers whose designs are calling for more sophisticated portable devices to process voice, text, images and music."

Mr. Falk continued, "Whereas large electronic design firms like Cadence (NYSE: CDN) offer a broad range of software, consulting and design services, we focus on software, design and engineering services for portable digital devices. The appropriate DSP technology is a critical component of these devices. We are now able to provide DSP software and solutions perfectly complementing our patented operating system software and digital engineering services. Designing and incorporating custom DSP solutions expands e.Digital's business and provides us an important competitive edge."

Mr. Bostenero's past experience includes positions at Stellcom Technologies, Megatek Corporation, and Cubic Corporation, with project-based experience at Scientific Atlanta Signal Processing Systems, Loral Telemetry and Instrumentation, NCR, Optigraphics and Unisys. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from San Diego State University.

Mr. Bostenero said, "I am very excited about the opportunities at e.Digital. I expect to make significant contributions to the breadth of their services by developing application-specific DSP solutions for their customers."

Does anyone recall Falk saying repeatedly that the "Music Devices" were NOT going to be the core of their business?

Hi PT. Was able to buy more yesterday below 14. As someone said on RB, "I dare the MMs to take it belw 14 again."

OT: In case you did'nt see it and I know it is controversial but check out LITH. Hai (nickname, cant remember full handle) the tech teacher that had the student that designed the hockey puck, is a believer.

From Clearstation:

What is MicroOS ???
THE MicroOS? FILE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

MicroOS is a robust, full-featured file management system with minimal memory requirements. It is best suited for use in handheld products needing small but powerful embedded systems. MicroOS allows for increased audio resolution and simple editing and file management. It is ideal for applications ranging from dictation and voice memos to CD-quality stereo music (see "MicroOS Audio" below). MicroOS can be applied in a wide range of devices using ATA- or IDE- compatible memory, and is particularly well suited for use with flash memory.

MicroOS? AUDIO

e.Digital has developed a version of its MicroOS file management system specially adapted for use with larger music files. The company has incorporated MicroOS Audio into a portable CD-quality music player and recorder that includes a PC interface. This system is targeted at the emerging market for online music sales over the Internet.

PATENTS

The company has been granted five patents on its handheld recording systems, with additional patents pending. The current patents cover both hardware and software developed by the company. Patent-protected intellectual property includes handheld recording devices, e.Digital?s MicroOS file management system, the use of removable flash memory cartridges in a handheld device, and their streamlined methods for recording and editing files in portable systems where memory is at a premium.

12/24/99 From Charles Brown of INTEL titled "The Driving Need for Flash Software management in Wireless" "Flash memory requires software management to function efficiently. OEMs/Designers must turn to a comprehensive software manager to balance handset cost with the data storage needs of feature rich wireless appliances. Memory management needs to perform a variety of tasks such as invalid data management, power-loss recovery and wear leveling."

1/31/00 - From CEO Fred Falk letter to shareholders "As wireless phones add more features, that industry is beginning to include removable storage media, and this represents a substantial opportunity for EDIG to incorporate our technology into future generations of wireless phones. The MicroOS is a pure software flash file management system that is compact yet robust and incorporates features such as: Wear leveling, Power management, user interface and bad block management."

Jan 2000 - Fred Falk interview "A very large company has tested several operating systems and stated that ours is the best."

Intel would be my guess. eDig's MicroOS even beat their OS for flash memory management.

MicroOS ~ Elegant Simplicity

Where other OSs require proprietary hardware, MicroOS is the only pure software solution for file management of flash memory. MicroOS' simplicity lies in its technique for storing large files in smaller segments wherever they may fit within a flash memory array, using highly compact code. This takes full advantage of flash memory's advantages, while minimizing its limitations. The elegant part is the header information attached to each of these smaller segments, allowing rapid retrieval of the original file, indexing of the file content, and labeling of the flash memory segment as free or in use. The patents protect this technology, as well as numerous applications of it. Elegant simplicity, which no one else can duplicate for the life of the patent.
