"Considering that the FCC is trying its damndest to keep NWave from getting its spectrum, are you kind of pessimistic on the real-world outlook for HDR in the near term (thru 2001)? Given that carriers can implement HDR selectively on narrow 1.25MHz channels, I thought that was supposed to be a big point in winning them over to implement data even as they are addicted to voice revs."

I am far from pessimistic about the commercialization of HDR.The carriers currently are a little data phobic and voice centric.I do belive that the opportunity that the C block spectrum presents to fuel the rapid deployment of HDR would put pressure on other CDMA carriers to take a hard look at it sooner.Hopefully who ever dose get that spectrum for instance LWIN that they use it for the ultimate national wireless high speed CDMA Internet.
