Watson and all...inc. Paul.

Thought I would share a little story.
Last night I was in the local Gateway store looking for a notebook.
Drifted over to the 600 Mhz Athlon desktop unit where a Customer and a salesman were discussing the unit. The Salesman was showing the customer a graph comparing the graphics power of the Athlon vs the Pentium III. Of course, the Athlon smoked the Pentium III. The customer had asked, "is the Athlon chip as good as the Pentium III"?
After showing the graphics comparison the Customer asked about quality.
The Salesman replied, "we have found the Athlon to be a great chip, of course Intel might lead one to believe there are compatibility problems".
Well, I couldn't take it any longer and chimed in to the effect that the Athlon is an unbelievably stable and by all accounts is one SMOOTH...running chip...(thinking of Paul). Additional conversation ensued...
Then BAM BAM BAM!...Sold!
Ahhhh...the glory of it all...the ja ja man strikes again! <G>

TWY,

<My point is they MAY be ahead with an inferior device design and at a thicker gate oxide. This means they have a larger opportunity for improvement. Since device design improvement has
accelerated at all companies recently, I think it is just a matter of time that AMD catches up.>

Yup! I got what you were saying the first time around. I was just referring to the "games played" aspect.

< Maybe, they have all ready. >

I have a feeling they did too. Especially in light of the phenomenal speed-bin rumors from Fab25 and Dresden.
