Some of the present LED flashlights (I collect them) are very bright and will cause a stronger after image than most regular flashlights. The Photon Microlight seems especially bright. Try it and see what I mean. If the LED get more efficient, the problem gets worse. Now a reasonable person probably wouldn't stare into one for long periods, but our litigious society often seems to reward stupidity, and there's nothing that makes the media happier than a good tech scare story. (watch out for those power lines, cell phones, etc). This is a manageable problem. Overall, I would agree that they are probably safer than other types of lighting.
I've been trying to find the post, couldn't locate it, but I believe it was you that posted that you expected that Cree SiC products like MESFETS and power transistors might be available and contributing to profits prior to the blue laser. Could you expound on that?
