Re: California's Tax Collectors:

A couple of years ago we (California residents) vacationed in Australia. We purchased a beautiful Opal ring, and declared it and paid duty on it when we returned to the U.S.

About 10 weeks later we received a demand from the State of California for a Use in lieu of Sales tax of nearly $200.

We sent Sacramento a check.

We also learned a lesson.
