AMD news not necessarily good news for Intel.

Note that it is primarily higher than expected sales of low end processors that is contributing to the revenues, not Athlon sales. Note also that AMD isn't giving any net income guidance, only revenue guidance.

If Intel was still seeing high end demand above capacity, it seems to me that it would be the Athlon that would be seeing better than expected sales.

Although AMD made no reference to earnings today, if they were to reference flat earnings sequentially, that would be good news indeed. My guess is that AMD's earnings are almost entirely dependent on the Athlon and Athlon demand. If those don't sell, AMD won't make money. And AMD was completely silent regarding Athlon sales today.
