Until we start approaching some earnings, we will continue to see volatility like this. In addition, I feel that that period will coincide with a drastic reduction of the short position.

Regards and hold on.

SW -

WCII always reprots very late in the quarterly earnings cycle. If it had come out with these results a week or two ago you would have seen a pop in the stock some of which might have been sustained.

However I remember last February. I seem to recall WCII and some other stocks that I follow dropping quite sharply after around the end of January and recovering around the middle of March. Roughly the same thing applied to the Marc quarter earnings which were well received and give a boost to the stocks concerned until around three weeeks into April and then once again a tank till the last two weekso of June and so on except the drop off after the June earnings was of course much more violent and lasted from the 2nd week of July till the up movement began in late October.

WCII always gets hit badly in this process as it reports so late. Its done a little better lately sinec the MSFT investment but I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped into the upper $60s again during this drop off. Its very frustrating but it is the market. WCII earings hit on the same day as a big correction. Wasn't WCII's doing or the MMs that have had such fun with it over the years. It has been just about the greatest trading stock you can imagine if you're into that. So predicatable except for the occasional downgrades like last years little drop from $52 or so down to $34 in a day or two! What fun that must have been for some people with the balls to say OK this price is ridiculous I'm going in here!

Still WCII is on track and they are doing well. I noticed you detected a slow down in growth QOQ and that needs a little discussion but I don't believe they will slow down for long. They have a great product and a good team.

I had actually thought that htey might have become a targtet by now. After all this is telecom and VOD bought Mannesman so any reasonable sized player could buy WCII and gain acces to valuable licenses, experience and customers.

It hasn't happened yet but my guess is that it will sooner or later. The only way to handle WCII in my view is to just put them in the drawer and forget about them for a couple of years.

Best regards,

L

SW.....you said

<<I thought we'd see a nice gain today. This would otherwise be hilarious--this is my worst day of red perhaps ever, but certainly since Sept. 98.>>

I agree with you on thinking today would be a winner. The downgrade after good news smells. This same crap happened before. And it happened more than once. If we had the time, we could go back and see when it happened and who issued the downgrades. It's like something or someone takes an action to counter the good news.

As far as the worst day since whenever ? I didn't get the sick feeling in the stomach we have had off and on it seems forever. The percentage drop was way less than percentage drops we experienced before. However, because of the much higher stock price, it was a big dollar drop.

You did say buy the rumor ,sell the news. You are dead right with WCII. It happens always. I don't remember, after all this time, one time that the stock jumped up after good formal announcements. There is a game being played.

L said to put it away and forget it. Well, I don't think any of us has done that. Well, any of us who post anyway.

Todays illogical action STINKS !!! But, we are not at 20 again either. We do have the option to sell and get rid of the aggravation. We won't. Period. The moon is out there somewhere. Have we entered the area where greed has entered the risk-reward formula ? Well, after thinking about it, and denying it, the answer is .............yes !! :-)
