Oooh, this looks tasty..Mick Taylor
Back Room, Friday 11

If guitarist Mick Taylor had never played a lick other than the long, lyrical solo on "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" from the Rolling Stones' seminal Sticky Fingers, he might still be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Fact is, though, he burned those same six strings before the Stones, with musical incubator to the stars John Mayall (Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton, Mick Fleetwood, etc.), and then with the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band through their peak years; starting on 1969's Let It Bleed through It's Only Rock & Roll in '74, after which he quit the band because of burnout. Word is that Taylor's solo shows have been smoking, and that he incorporates classic Stones songs into his set. Can't you just hear that song's pit-bull intro, that flowing Santanaesque solo? Mick Taylor's come knocking. --
