panic,

I too believe that the emphasis on low-end processors was specifically designed to allow for a big upward surprise due to higher than expected Athlon sales (even the analysts should be able to see this setup). However, I do not expect another earnings update before the Q1 earnings announcement -- unless AMD has learned form last quarter's mistake.

My desktop system is a 300 Mhz PII. I will upgrade to a 1+ Ghz Thunderbird when it is available with DDR RAM. I suspect that many others will upgrade at that time. The next upgrade after that will be a dual-processor-on-a-die Sledgehammer.

Pravin.
