AFAIK echostar pays indirectly for the EPG of the product because WebTV is a paying licensee. The issue at stake is that echostar's guide(which I use) does not carry GMST's advertizing. This reduces the potential hits the guide could get, which in turn riles our hero, Henry Yuen!
The broadband sat. service is going to take a couple years or so to go mainstream. In fact, TVGIA is the biggest investor of just such a venture.
My sister had one of them classic WebTV units. Slow as sludge but elcheapo supremo and trivial to get running and that IR keyboard aint half bad...

Rocketman,

I do you think GMST will ever be involved with any licensing with SONY and the Playstation II? WEB TV may suck, but I've been reading that the reviews of Playstation II are awesome.

Today, I received in the mail a promo for AT&T digital cable that touted an easy to use in-screen TV Guide that was activated by the remote, Pay per view videos, lots of channels, etc. Maybe this promo had something to do with the rise?
