LG,

You take yourself way too seriously ... Even the title of the thread is not so much as to poke fun as much as it is to recognize the reality that many have been suckered by the popular press. I'd love to be more optimistic, LG. But we have reached a point at which it is inevitable: Very large numbers of people have been more or less willingly hoodwinked into believing in "something for nothing." Some of the media folks who continue to sell the public on this thing -- I wouldn't mind seeing them share in the suffering that is about to come to the average joe. Is that wrong?

Do you know what "gallows" humor is? I am certainly in the camp that believes that very difficult times lie ahead. Am I not allowed a little bit of cynicism toward the system that brought this thing about?

Maybe the title of the thread should read

** All clowns should be destroyed **

Certainly, there are many in the last few years who have caused great harm who won't suffer a bit. Personally, I look forward to the day that Greenspan and Rubin are accorded the disregard that they deserve -- look at these two: The media has all but stopped short of calling them gods -- when they sold our country's future prospects down the road to serve someone like BC and/or bankers who don't know the meaning of right. (I think one of the stories of 00 will be the ineffectivenes of the FED).

I've linked some to the posts of others -- I've enjoyed reading the posts of those who hold an outlandish faith in the media hype. Sometimes I've linked the posts of regulars on the thread. Despite what you say it is good fun. None of us mean these folks any harm or wish them ill will; rather it is simply a chronicle of the mass hysteria that exits now.

I work for a manager right now who has a good sense of humor -- he pokes fun at me -- but he can take a joke, too. This goes a long way toward diffusing pressures when things get hectic.

Show me someone who takes everything said about them to heart -- and I'll show you a very unhappy individual indeed.

Life is serious and not all a joke, but you need to know when to have a good laugh, too. :-)
