Kash, <I have assumed that intel is yielding north of 600Mhz with its 0.18 micron. If they are truly yielding a large split in 500-600Mhz speed grades - Intel is DEAD.> People across the Net are reporting a lot of success with overclocking those FC-PGA Socketmines to 667 or 733 MHz. Anand even called it "the next Celeron 300A," a reference to the ease at which these things can be overclocked. Based on this and what PB has said, I trust that all Coppermines are indeed capable of running AT LEAST north of 600 MHz. <Either Intel IS WAY behind AMD in bin slits or they are trying to play footsie with differing market segments.> I truly think it's the latter. Remember those Socketmines are meant to be paired up with the 810e chipset, the only chipset that supports FC-PGA right now. Apparently, the Pentium III and 810e is selling very well, much better than I expected. Maybe this is Intel's way of increasing ASP, by driving Pentium III down instead of driving Celeron up, since Intel can charge more for a 500 Mhz Pentium III than a 533 MHz Celeron. That would make sense if businesses really do prefer buying Pentium III over Celeron (or AMD). All of this sounds rather artificial, but hey, this is marketing we're talking about here. Tenchusatsu

Kash, :o) I'm going to cut niceguy some slack. Message 12216217 He was predicting 2 Billion in revenues for Y2000? Now we may see 1 billion in Q1? With the Intel employees, past and present, and Intel contractors, who will surely increase their number of desperate posts, I could use some RAH RAH cheerleading posts this weekend.
