I just wish SOMEONE in the press would come out and flat out say the TRUTH. Say it in a way that leaves no doubt. That Case has played the lawmakers for the suckers and patsy's that they are. I doubt the lawmakers will admit this because it makes them look like fools to have been used in this way. I've said it years ago and it still holds true today. Case is a scum bag. Been a scum bag from day one. I know this man's history very well. He's got to where he is by stepping on and using whoever he needed to. Subscribers, lawmakers, employees, made no difference to him. But in this day and age I guess that makes one a "visionary". It makes me SICK!

"The consequences of trying to do a 180 on this will be huge and will undermine their credibility."

What credibility? AOL's hypocrisy is matched only by MSFT. Unbelievable that they castigated ATT for being a monopoly powerhouse while they manipulated the consumer for their own gain. I wonder how Portland feels now that they have no broadband and their biggest ally left them out in the cold. AOL sucks. All of ATHM's problems put together pale in comparison. "On Strike, Shut it down."

We whine, we yell, we shout, we cry foul, and to the end this is what we get...

"Say what? You want the truth? ... You CAN'T handle the truth!"
...
"Alright, alright, I'll tell you the truth... Look into my eyes while I talk to you... <Sigh>, this is not about making money. All we are doing is to FIGHT THE SOCIAL ILLS!"

Guess what? If you were not an AOL user, you most likely are a pedophile, Neo-Nazi hate-monger, or obsessed with cop-killing lyrics. Hey, better pullout that little Uzi from your kid's backpack before some social ills being committed.

AOL is not going to lobby for my right to choose?
Darn... I just started using the oppressive roadrunner service a few weeks ago and all though it's the fastest and cheapest service available in my area I feel somehow like my right to choose is being violated. If AOL the champions of freedom, easy to use Internet service, and 500 free minutes can't save us... then who?
What's this AOL is roadrunner now... damn that oppressive AOL.

End BS -- who could have ever seen aol dropping open access ; )
