Wasn't Cecil Rhodes so important that he was the one cast out to settle Rhodesia so he would stay out of the hair of Bristish society and royalty?

Alex, DARN! don't you ever read Rhodesian, and South African History?? Cecil Rhodes left England in haste. Probably because of his homosexuality, which was not tolerated in those times, and went to the south of Africa. There he stumbled upon a source of diamonds not treasured by the native population. He, virtually, enslave the male black population, making them toil in unmerciful conditions below the ground, subjected the to strip searches, including all bodily orifices, and sent them off hungry to pitiful shacks and huts not fit for an animal to call its den. If just giving money to a University to soothe a guilty conscience, makes a man great in your eyes, then you have your priorities on backwards. He was "great" only in his own estimation. ~H~
