Rande Is and all, ONT is going to launch on2.com this Friday, February 18th. I brought some as a position play. Just thought you might be interested,

Here's the PR that talks about the launch this Friday:

On2.com Announces Official Launch Date of
On2Movies; Revolutionary Broadband Web Site Goes
Live on February 18, 2000

NEW YORK, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- On2.com Inc. (Amex: ONT - news), a leader in broadband content delivery over the
Internet, today announced that it will officially launch its first broadband Web channel, On2Movies, on Friday, February 18, 2000. Any consumer with a broadband Internet connection (DSL, cable modem or satellite, 300 kilobits/second or greater) will be able to freely access the channel at on2.com.

Showcasing On2's proprietary TrueMotion VP3(TM) technology, On2Movies is the world's first Web destination to deliver
full-motion, full-screen, television-quality video to broadband consumers on demand, in real time, and without waiting for downloads. Since the release of the password-protected final beta version of On2Movies in December 1999, On2 has been gathering consumer reaction and feedback and expanding the channel's content offerings.

Rande. I notice that you were recommending CORL below $19.50 a few days ago. Have your views changed at all since then? If not, it would appear even more attractive at a couple of bucks less.

I have shied away from CORL in the past, mainly because of dear Mr. Mike C. He has always struck my as an odd kind of CEO. I remember in the late 80's being at a talk in Ottawa, given by the head of the ESPRIT project. (If you are not aware of this it was a massive multi-country, multi-billion euro European project. It's not significant here anyway.) All of a sudden, some guy jumped to his feet and started shouting and railing about government funding and such. A colleague pointed out that this was none other than Mike himself (back in the Mitel days).

However, I have a renewed interest in Corel given the Inprise merger. I still use Delphi and have been a Borland fan since the Turbo Pascal days.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Piper

(P.S. I noticed your post on the USTI thread at Raging Bull. It reminds me that I should thank you again for bringing that gem to my attention last March.)

Part 2 of the stockhouse report on embedded software is ver informative.

stockhouse.com

Good link to CE disappointments
news.cnet.com

Since there seems to be some interest, I would like to share a smart appliance software port I made on Monday while all of them were turning the corner and were already off of their lows. Many of these stocks saw serious appreciation in the wake of the MSFT anti-trust findings. I think that there is a lot of room to grow in this space. Upcoming PALM and Symbian IPO's should help add value to this sector.

BTW I have positions in WIND, LBRT, some SPYG, COMS and WINK
