RE:"Do you realize that rambus is expensive, low yielding, and offers limited performance benefits."...

I think there is a lot of blind faith in Intels roadmap. Most probably don't know that RAMBUS yields poorly...even 10% at times.

I also doubt that many Intel faithful realize that AMD stock
has more than tripled since April (14 9/16 to 45 1/4)....16 1/6 to 45 1/4 since 10/20/99 alone. Paul and Elmer do...they own it...
Of course this won't last, AMD will screw up and Intel will put them in their rightful place when Willy comes. <G>

Re: Don't you question a DUMBASS management that is hanging RAMBUS around Timna and Willamette

Rambus is cheaper for low end devices such as Timna based products because it uses less chips than eqivalent SDRAM. That is why PlayStation and Nintendo use Rambus.

For Willamette, a higher performing memory is necessary to take advantage of the performance of the processor. RIMM modules are expensive right now because of the demand for them. Manufacturers are creaming off the high profits they can get from early-adopters. Rambus is sold out and the major RAM manufacturers are ramping up. As supply comes in, prices will drop because the scarcity will disappear. Same as for processors.

OT: I see you went to Coventry University. I live about 15 mins from there and have some houses in Coventry. Are you from Coventry originally?
