>>>Why? If Intel screws up again, Dell is going to suffer, and so will the shareholders. What is going through MD's head? >>> Well with the hope hes not reading this thread, I venture to say hes doing a bit of jogging, planning a barbeque or Church outing, relaxing and enjoying this staggering good TX weather. Having the ol' white MBZ detailed (G) Because its been a tough week, explaining things to the analysts and disappointed shareholders. Monday morning we should see the old MSD- inspiring and full of fire since hes now got a realistic goal for May earnings which he knows they can beat. Call up the European division, get the facts on weak sales and talk out ways to improve- keep those reports flowing in on how Win 2000 is being accepted and how the schedules look. See what Nashville needs to get fully ramped up. Same for Brazil. Maybe an interview with an underemployed IBM friend known to Jim. Vanderslice. Contemplate buying AMD ( its only $6 bil), use company cash or maybe put up $3 bil collateral on his own. Thats just peanuts after the $25 bil deal with IBM. Boy, talk about pressuring Intel! And make money on the side, selling the Athlon to others. Perhaps Gateway would put in for half, could charge CPQ and E-machines double for the chips ( hope he don't do this tho) Decide how much to spend to beef up Dell.com sites against intruders >>> On another point...why would MD take a shot at Msft? That is, his most recent comments about Linux vs. Windows. What is Dell trying to accomplish? >>> I wouldn't dare to guess on that question. I've just taken a wild guess at what Michael may be up to, he enjoys the job and did not build a $25 bil company without great ability to overcome problems. Last quarter was a test to see how many at one time- I thought he done good.(G) Sig
