Thanks Bob. It looks like, over the long term, that platinum will continue to be increasingly more valuable than gold. However at the moment, due to the volatility in the ratio, it would appear that gold is the better short-term investment.

By the way, your graph does confirm that in Dec 93 gold was more valuable than platinum. I did remember there was an occasion in recent years but I wasn't sure when.
