because of Global Expansion and development of third world countries coming into the frey..

old semi cycles were boom and bust type events...i think with new technologies and explosive advances in wireless phones, and other expansions to wafer size and smaller micron size, this continued ramp up around

pan back to "goldilocks world economy" circa 1997
Said while pounding chest:
"we are going to sell every poor russian, chinese and ethiopian a coke, a compaq and a gillette razor"

fast forward to the "new economy - tech revolution" 2000 (gee i thought the tech revolution had been going on for over 20 years - all of a sudden it's new -gg-)

Said while pounding chest:
"we are going to sell every poor russian, chinese and ethiopian a cell phone, a wide bandwith internet connection and a extra discount on purchases at priceline.com, oh and of course the boom bust cycle has again been repealed, just like the one in 1997" -g-

With such revolution, as you described, what technologies are now or will soon become obsolete, and which companies will soon be on Penny Lane, and which will be on Broadway?
