The pennant is a bullish pattern. That is simply based on experience. When a stock forms a pennant while in an up-channel, it usually forms a solid base for the next move up. No guarantee's of course. TA isn't that good. And if the market tanks next week, all bets are off.

All that's happening when a stock bases like this is that sellers are drying up. After those shares are absorbed, the stock price has to rise to accord new buyers.

I'm curious if anyone else sees a descending triangle forming in JDSU. I don't understand how to differentiate between a pennant and a triangle. I've posted JDSU's chart and a comparison chart from Shabacker's book, Technical Analysis and Stock Market Profits, at the following site.

Any clarification and/or instruction would be appreciated. Thanks.
