Did you say only $3.8 billion?

Yes, you appear to be right. I was worried that a lot of new shares would be issued. It's VERY difficult to get an accurate count; it looks like all we have to go on is the official 750 million shares, plus the new 1.15 billion owned by Softbank. The story reports that it took a 61.5% stake. 61.5 percent of 1.9 billion shares is about 1.16 billion, so that looks right. Current market cap is $3.8 billion. Still peanuts, given what it is, and who's behind it, but much more than the $1 billion I quoted above.

Thanks for ferreting that out.

One more correction: I stated earlier that Softbank's market cap was about $200 billion--I don't know what I was drinking, but it's actually about $148 billion today (100 million shares x $1480).

The share counts in HK are awfully high. People must like their stocks REALLY low priced .... anyone got an explanation of that?

Doesn't most ADR (Foreign co. listing on US) does not go on a one to one ratio.. ADR usually is worth more than 1 share in the country of origin..

I don't know where to look up the ratio of ADR against the original shares..

I am curious on the large no. of o/s shares..

Regards,
