Ron you're right about many ways to make money. Many stocks surge on no news just "the rising tide lifts all boats". speaking or shorting, look at POCI. now about $18, was 1 3/8 in nov 99. shorted this one in the 20's, covered in the mid teens and repeated the the same thing again this week. earnings were out a few weeks ago and they were the worse I've seen for this company. being following it for 3 years. going long back @ $1 and selling on the surge up. can't see why is worth 18 times the price it was 3 months ago.

of course one could make that statement about plenty of stocks as well. but the point I'm making is there are so many opps to make money long and/or short. one just has to do a little looking and SOMEHTING will pop up on the radar screen.

I'm will Sue on the tech weighting. looks like the feeling in the market overall is being out of techs and in some other area you will miss out on the "big" score. its where the action is now. I know there's going to be some down days like last year. when that happens the bargain hunters have come out in force. Will that change? don't think so, but I if I'm wrong it would not be the first and certainly not the last :o)

I'm protecting my current postions with stops and look for "bargains" each and every day.

Kelvin

>it's hard for some of us old dogs to change 100%

well, let me tell you that a not that old dog like me is afraid of chasing this market.

Yes, I played the fuel-cell-hype in january too and got this 17 people company with a 150 million$ cap and a revenue of 600000$ a year!!! Ridiculous. Made me a double in 1 month. Scared me!!!

Therefore I appreciate your and Dans picks of undervalued companies very much. Maybe its too early now to enter stocks like CIT, CNC and SKS. But these stocks will rise over the years, and a lot of tech hypes simply will disappear.

I'm looking for undervalued tech companies also. They exist too (like FORTY, hot and undervalued).

By the way: Your CYTO-play is all but old-dog-style imo. I never would dare playing that way (it isn't possible to me either, I have a german broker where I can't go short)

Let me add one interesting stock for the 'new economy':
NSIL

Sounds like very big potential to me, but I didn't enter yet, still deciding is it a hype or real.
On the other hand I always wait too long.

Greetings,
Maarten
