I sent you a lovely long message, full of good wishes for your family and sage ruminations and stuff--and SI (harrumph! the supposedly new and improved SI) blew them off! I cannot rise to such heights again so quickly, alas. So.... The marvelous Helenator will probably have some difficult moments ahead, but I trust you and Mrs. Lather to use your usual sensitivity to get through this emotional difficulty. (I waxed so eloquent on the subject in my lost posting, since I was a first born and I do remember the mixed emotions and the ferocity of them.) Those little noises: I have been told that I made them when I was a baby. When I am very happy and content, just as I fall asleep, I hear some odd little noises that are between a soft squeak and a very low humming. Sounds like you are A-OK so far if those are the sounds you are hearing.
