Here is the scenario I see:

1. corl/inpr clean up all of the administrative and other overlap: human resources, excess office space and personnel, etc. to streamline the company.

2. msft sells out their inpr shares.

3. orcl sun or ibm buy a new and improved streamlined company for cash, without having to pay msft anything.

4. why not buy the separate pieces you ask? because a combined/streamlined corl/inpr will bring a higher price than if each were sold separately, i guess. i surmise. i'm not sure. david ray, rod and the others probably know more than me, i'm sure. what i do know is that if linux does indeed take off, as indicated my m. dell, then corl/inpr is going a lot higher.
