~The hustle paid off: this January, Emeryville's Ask
Jeeves Inc. announced it plans to buy Wellesley,
Mass.-based Direct Hit for about $500 million in
stock.~

FWIW.

Meteor Technologies Inc (MMI-V) resumed trading on Monday January 31 after announcing that there was nothing new to report beyond that it was negotiating for a larger stake in Thoughtshare as well as looking at other acquisitions. The stock had been halted on January 26 by CDNX "pending clarification of company affairs", a label generally reserved for listings about which surveillance has suspicions about corporate wrongdoing or crooked management. The stock had doubled on January 25 on about 1.3 million shares, a move that normally reflects a leak of a material hange. The timing of the move coincided with a US $550 million takeover bid by search engine Ask Jeeves for an Internet utility called Direct Hit, which some traders may have used as an excuse to trigger a breakout.
