Why do they release this stuff on a Sunday afternoon? It may not be a revelation but it is the kind of thing that might draw some desperately needed attention to the stock.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- ExciteAtHome announced
Sunday that it had joined the wireless application protocol forum, a global
consortium seeking to develop standards for wireless data and e-commerce

"We're committed to developing the forward-thinking applications for users
that will comprise the future of the wireless industry," said Rob Wilen, head
of ExciteAtHome's wireless operations.

The forum is a

Wilen said joining the
forum will advance
high-speed Internet

to offer "the most
personalized mobile

Excite (ATHM: news, msgs) currently provides mobile portal services to
the Palm VII and AT&T PocketNet services. The services include a

So if you buy the DOCSIS ready(?) USB cable modem you got the hardware in place.

Now to the software: with a good manual and some user friendly guidance built into the installation of the software how hard can it be? I wonder if ATHM insists on having a cable guy come out to install the software....if so, someone has some serious rethinking do to.

Still don`t know what the problems with self install are? Is it bad marketing? Not enough cable modems that are DOCSIS compliant? Price of a modem? Network management?
