One consideration is that the congestion band is 3 years old, so the effect on the chart in the immediate future may hopefully not be that demanding. The AMD chart looks very bullish right now, so it may well go through this congestion zone without undue delay.

Richard, I am planning to buy more this week and that is why I was asking. I don't want to buy and have it sit there stuck/basing in a trading range for the next 4-6 weeks. However I agree with your conclusion...most of the holders of the stock at $48 three years ago are probably long gone and so won't create a lot of resistance for AMD to overcome.

I think Intel's IDF this week may slow down the stock but after that, assuming no big surprises, AMD should start moving up fairly quickly.

Richard & thread, it will be interesting to see if AMD puts on the agenda of the annual meeting a proposal to increase the number of authorized shares. I suspect they will.
