This is interesting based on the Sony Playstation II story, I would say that RDRAM may be the most cost effective in high performance DSP applications.

Power consumption goes up with clock speed other things being equal.
The DRAM cells in RDRAM are basically the same as regular DRAM. The power consumption should be the same for a given process and clock speed. There are some differences between the RDRAM controller and the DRAM controller. One really needs to compare competing memory systems.
