<<< I'd think blackmail is a better word.<<<

I made it a point not to use that word or "extortion" because it is a serious charge and I have no hard information at all to support such a charge. But I do believe that may well be what happened either explicitly (a crime) or implicitly (I think legal). It was bizarre whatever it was...your blackmail theory (I really don't want to go there), groggy from pain killers or anesthesia (if the appendectomy rumor was true), worn out from fighting, there are many possible explanations including the simplest one i.e. a voluntary pact with the devil to get the short monkey off the back of the company, but all seem to me to be bizarre.

We may never know what really happened.

But it does appear to be a win/win situation for the shorts and solvent longs. Longs that got (ironically) squeezed out appear at this point to be the big losers.

I hope there are no more twists and turns to this novel.

If the twists and turns are more or less over, I think THQI will behave like TYC and resume a new uptrend. Net net we will have lost a year.
