I don't think you get suspended for criticizing SI- if you did, most of the people I know would be gone.

It was better when it was free. Of maybe it was just before all the yhoos got on the net. Now anyone can get on the net- USED to be you needed to be a computer geek or married to a computer geek.

Of course the SHOPPING on the net is better NOW. So it's hard to decide- was it better then or better now?

I maintain that the influx of women on to the net has profoundly changed the culture of the net. Do you remember what a huge percentage of the net was porn? And very little (for example) in the way of gourmet edibles. NOW- all sorts of foods are on line and the poor porn sites have been marginalized.

My husband speaks wistfully of the net before feminization. When, for example, you could see dwarf porn, or freak shows just about everywhere. Now, he says, people think the Victoria's secret webiste it hot.

I, on the other hand, love the selection and the fabulous coupons now available on the web. And to have it shipped to my door- cheaper than I could buy it in town- well, that's pretty cool. Plus the porn didn't interest me. But I miss the wild West atmosphere a bit. Now it seems so tame and boring. Kind of like the PTA socials.
