Microsoft should not take time to address false negative comments or Rumors.

Other analyst firms -- including Gartner -- have
said in the past that customers could have
problems getting Windows 2000 to immediately
run with their other data or software types. Glitches are typical when installing new software companywide, analysts point out. In addition, investors may have been scared by recent comments by Dell Computer chief executive Michael Dell regarding Windows 2000. In an earnings conference call following Thursday's close, Dell said that Windows 2000 won't immediately help Dell Computer to sell more hardware

Microsoft not addressing the Gartner report spooked investors in thinking that the comments were totally true. Information is spread too quickly via internet to just be ignored.
