Conexant Semiconductor Products Support Intel's Specification for
Low-Cost PC Network, Audio and Modem Solutions

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Feb 14, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Conexant's Modem-Only And Audio/Modem Products Fully Support Intel's New Communication
And Networking Riser (CNR) Specification For

Creating Low-Cost, Flexible PC Design Platforms Conexant Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT)
Monday announced that the company's Audio Codec (AC) link products for low-cost modem-only
and audio/modem solutions fully support the new communication and networking riser (CNR)
specification released today by Intel Corp.

Conexant's AC-link products include the SmartMC(TM) modem-only solution and SoftAMC(TM)
audio/modem solution, both of which eliminate the need for a separate bus interface device. This
enables them to work with any bus configuration while achieving the lowest possible system cost
for either modem-only or audio/modem functionality in a desktop or portable system.

When used with Intel's new CNR specification, they play a key role in helping to reduce OEM
costs for implementing audio and modem subsystems widely used in today's "connected PCs."

"Conexant's AC-link products offer ideal solutions for implementing Intel's CNR specification,"
said Matt Rhodes, senior vice president and general manager for Conexant's Personal
Computing Division. "Through the use of industry standard interfaces, they are fully compatible
with Intel's goal of creating a scalable motherboard riser card and interface that supports the
audio, modem and network interfaces of core logic chipsets."

Intel's CNR specification is designed to improve flexibility in PC platform design, at a lower cost
than is possible with standard add-in cards.

"Products such as Conexant's AC-link products demonstrate how the CNR specification,
released by Intel, can give PC manufacturers significantly broader options in the FCC and
international certification processes while maximizing motherboard space, and meeting other
manufacturer-specific requirements," said Tom Matson, director of marketing for Intel's OEM
Platform Solutions Division.

Introduced in February 1999, the SoftAMC and SmartMC system solutions are both shipping in
volume and are used in PCs from such leading manufacturers as NEC.
