Some sites are just really slow, so the fastest internet connection won't help. Downloading files is where the greatest difference can be seen. Also, modem connections benefit from compression, and this can be quite significant for web browsing.

I am very pleased with the improvement that RoadRunner gives, but I prefer to download during off-peak hours, after a frustrating experience a couple of weeks ago trying to download software at about 4:00 p.m., it took an hour and a half instead of minutes. I don't think it's because we have a lot of RoadRunner users, since I was the first one on this line back in October. I just think something slows it down during peak hours. I am paying $50 a month for RoadRunner, and cancelled my MSN, which was $20 a month, so that ought to tell you how much I like it.
