RE: Dancing through retirement

Great post Lindy. You are a fortunate man in more ways than one. I like the 1-800-Grandpa hotline.

As a musician, I understand your outlet - and it is a healthy one that will keep you fit as a fiddle.

Those are my plans so far. I will await your answers that tell me
what I am doing wrong! :0)

Not only do I agree with you I admire your courage to share your thoughts and invite criticism, which, like your 100% investment plan, is bound to bring plenty.

Bravo, to a free spirit.

Great post! You are doing nothing wrong, King Arthur. Nothing.

But what I admire most about you, Bill, isn't that you know the course heading, but that you can steer it. Not that you know the target, but that you CAN PULL THE TRIGGER!

Something tells me you and Ted Turner would be good friends.

Lindy Bill: Speaking as a grandpa, you are an absolute gem when it comes to a wonderful working philosophy of life. Congratulations. And congratulations also to your kids and grandkids. They are very fortunate indeed to be able to be close to your example.

Fascinating post.
As the biggest passion in my life is "freedom" and Libertarianism, I can assure you I will have to find another passion when I quit working. Because it is a terribly frustrating passion since most Americans seem to not care a whit for freedom and instead equate it with the taking away of handouts.
Exercise is good: I like walking and especially enjoy mountain hiking (hence the future home in the Utah mountains.)
It goes against my grain to pay taxes but I'm starting to agree with you: make the money, pay them, and get over it...especially since our "authorities" are so quick to bang down people's doors and shoot them when they are perceived as doing something "wrong".
Grandchildren are fun, I can relate: I've begun paying for my little grandson's private school so he can be with a staff that appreciates his high activity level, smarts, and "differentness".
But are you at all worried that too much "help" will take away motivation?
Maybe not, after all who would we help if not our own children and grandchildren.
I do make everyone say thank you though, or withhold for a month, just because I'm a big believer in "thankful",ie.that's why Thanksgiving in my favorite holiday. I believe it gives people pause to appreciate what they have and how lucky they are not to have the horrible experiences many others have.
I admit to being afraid to quit getting a paycheck though because of a little unsureness on "finance planning". I guess I'll work out something this year since I am getting mighty sick of the public schools (of course I could afford to teach in private schools now if I really want to).
Thanks for sharing your thoughts: are you enjoying "retirement" then? Do you make a schedule for yourself? Do you get up early? (You're probably a latebird with all that dancing in your life.)
