Please re-read the link you provided. That simply is not what the article says!!

"Dell Computer is betting Windows 2000 Professional will legitimize two-processor PCs for business use."

What is does say is that Dell thinks you need at least a 400mhz celeron to run the OS, which is simply an opinion. As many will attest, Windows 2000 will perform quite well on lesser hardware than that.

Do remember that this is a hardware company(that makes money selling hardware!) offering it's recommendations on what you need to run Windows 2000. It is in Dell's best interest to have you buy a higher end system than you were planning, or, better yet, have you decide to buy a system because the <400mhz one that you have just isn't fast enough.

I'm surprised that DELL can actually get two coppermines from Intel...things must be looking up.
