Hello w,

> When QCOMs HDR rolls out, who will offer firewall software?

This is a very good question. I think that what we will see are very specific solutions for the various "platforms" that customers use. This is more related to IP than the media that the IP is travelling over.

For example, if you are using a Palm Pilot to access via HDR, then you will probably want a "personal firewall" for the Palm Pilot. If you are running Microsoft Windows products over HDR, then you are going to want a Windows solution - many of which have been discussed here.

I'm thinking that we will see "personal firewalls" appear for each different platform - Palm, Symbian, WinCE, Windows, Linux, etc.

These should work just fine whether the machine is connected via wireless, cable, or DSL ...

(No saying that, I'm trying to think of exceptions ... ;-)

I'm looking for who the various security software will be coming from ...
