Hello PJ,

I actually have seen this as the ultimate directory application for years! But I was never able to understand the thinking going on at Novell related to this area ...

I think that as I have viewed markets in the past, this one will explode when a company creates the distributed solution. A lot of money will be made by the company that "cracks the nut" and allows companies to own and operate IM servers without the ties to big brother. A customer might *choose* to still use the other products, but they have the *option* then ...

There is *no* reason to have a third party sit in the middle, except to allow them a piece of your profit ... either in real cash or information. Just like e-mail services, or file services, etc.

*This* is what I see as an inevitable future ... it will come ... and someone will profit from it ... it's just a matter of time. ;-)
