Hello Toy, > ... in fact Scott, Novell is fighting FUD fire with FUD fire. And what do we all know about fighting fire with fire? Yeah, I guess it works in some cases when you want to destroy all of the flammable material before the other fire does ... ;-) > I still stand by their actions that they have to attck and not > defend. I would think Scott that you would have praised NOVL for > following MSFT's tactics. Now that they have - you shoot them down > for doing so. I don't argue with the attack, but it's got to be well thought through. Your comment makes gross assumptions about what the Microsoft tactics are! ;-) From my perspective, they are up to several things here. One, they want to try and draw Novell into agreeing that LDAP is good enough ... remove the arguments about the other benefits that might exist. Two, they then draw Novell into publishing their own "test" that can now be used as a basis to attack back. And three, they move down the road in optimizing their database technology to win at the same tests. I don't believe that the mere publishing of the test was the "tactic" at all ... and so I believe that Novell missed the ball ... or didn't keep their eye on it! ;-) I believe that it will be Microsoft's objective to "commoditize" the back-end directory, and so it will be the applications that integrate that will be the real issue and money maker. Novell should focus on the directory applications, instead of creating the "hit list" of what the Microsoft engineers need to work on. Novell just handed that list to Microsoft ... Just one lowly perspective ... Scott C. Lemon
