<<1. The article mentions competition for GNTX but does not list REFR. Any idea why?>>

REFR is a company that has developed a technology. This technology is being used to manufacture products one of which is self-dimmable mirrors. The licensees that will be manufacturing these are Hanglas and Global. Global is specifically focusing on large truck mirrors (commercial vehicles not large passenger trucks) and Gentex's technology has made inroads in this niche market because of the length of time it takes to dim. REFR's SPD technology was written up last Friday in the New York Times automotive section as a competitor to Gentex (the website link doesn't show it but in the newspaper there is a sidebar on Gentex's electrochromic mirrors).

<<2. GETX appears to be a very strong company in this product niche.>>

Gentex IS a strong company and has the lion's share of the self-dimmable rear-view mirror business. But that is the SMALLEST application of SPD technology and Global is not going head to head with Gentex. Global has this project on a fast-track.

SPD will be used in areas such as self-dimming visors, sunroofs, eyewear and window glass. Several licensees are in the process of commercializing these products.

As for REFR's financials, they have no debt, no manufacturing overhead (so if Global sells 100,000 mirrors or 10,000,000 mirrors our costs do not go up as they would with Gentex)

You might want to contact REFR (1-888-773-7337)and get an investor packet. Evidently you were misinformed that somehow they directly competed with Gentex. Someone at the company could answer any other questions that you had.
