*OT* guys, but here's something about Ancor. <g>

Ancor's media history is available @:

207.235.5.146

How about that BRCD. $300 price target, sheesh. The betting on the fibre channel sector is becoming more concentrated now. If ANCR delivers an OEM, we could benefit from that concentration. [note I said 'IF,' Craig <g>]

Back to lunch then

Douglas

The ecosystem analogy like most breaks down when you consider cost. When I studied ecology (Odum's text)- the health of systems was determined mostly by thermodynamic rather than complexity models. Back then of course Claude Shannon had a way to connect both of these worlds, but biologists were slower to catch up. The cost of changing to all optical from SONET/ATM in the long haul is a huge question mark for me. I would like to see some actual engineering data on the cost of an acute transition before I believe it. For those up on Gilder philosophy doesn't it contradict his previous work on 10GB GE and NAS in the LAN? My understanding of a total optical network is that you won't need GE in the LAN anymore. If that is true, why haven't we replaced all those ethernet LANs hooked up to the GE backbone yet? I guess when the "all optical network" gets here - we will just throw everything out and start over.
