Joan,

>>I noticed Mohan said on one of the SI threads that the news is they took a bath in the recent 30 yr bond fiasco. I have a hard time believing these guys were short the 30 yr without a hedge.<<

That's one of the many rumors that the loons are starting. I'm pretty sure it was denied. In any event, the portion of General RE that could have lost some money in that way is not large enough to be meaningful. Even if they lost 1 billion dollars - which is almost impossible in my view - that would translate into about 650 dollars per "A" share.
This company sneezes billions. Just the bond and equity portfolio combined is worth over 70 billion.

I am sticking to my guns. I think the stock is under a premeditated attack by someone that is short it (I doubt that), someone who wants to buy it, or someone who doesn't like the idea that Warren tells the truth about accounting scams, options, Wall St., etc... There has been a steady stream of negative articles, internet rumors, etc.. ever since he started getting more vocal in his criticisms of corporate America. All of the rumors have been false and most of articles have been inaccurate to the point of being misleading. This is a brand new phenomenon. Maybe some people are jealous....

When you indirectly trash lots of people (even if there are no names used) you can make enemies. I think Warren's honesty and integrity is in 100% opposition to the current crop on Wall St. who would rather lie and cheat their way to fortune.

Call me paranoid, but sometimes they really are out to discredit you. (g)
