Scumbria,

"To talk up a stock" means to set up the retail investors to buy, in order that the brokerage or its elite clients sell or go short at a favorable price. The natural consequence following such a "death rec" is usually a downward spiral.

(Ever looked at a Level II machine where you could see GSCO at the ask after their upgrades?)

You need to come out of the AMD hole to learn about the things in the world.
