Jim - <Sorry but I'm with Elmer...I take a poster on the wall with a grain of salt. OTOH, if Intel pumps 1 million Coppermines/wk out of one fab...well I'd be scared if I was you...especially if the sweet spot is 550-600 MHz...
Of course someone needs to qualify this wall poster. <G>>

I would be pleased as punch if F12 shipped 1M die to assembly last week.

Before you start pumping me for clarification, one would need to know a lot of information that isn't generally available to the public. Big picture stuff, you know.

That said, I reiterate that if the poster on the wall means F12 shipped 1M units from wafer sort to assembly last week, I am very pleased.

Semiconeng should be back with the exact wording soon.

Jim, <I take a poster on the wall with a grain of salt.>

You also seem to take a certain Process Boy's comments with a grain of sarcasm, especially as you continue to poke fun at Intel's "demand is high, ramp is fine, yields are good" story.

<if Intel pumps 1 million Coppermines/wk out of one fab...well I'd be scared if I was you...especially if the sweet spot is 550-600 MHz...>

And which processor do you think will command higher margins at the sweet spot of 550 to 600 MHz? Coppermine or Athlon? Seems like if oversupply occurs (which is in fact one of my concerns), Intel would have more room to lower prices on Coppermine, thus putting the squeeze on AMD's newfound profits.

Of course, AMD can climb the MHz ladder real easily and shift focus on supplying the high MHz niches. I guess that's why we're seeing a huge flood of 1.1 GHz Athlons this quarter, right?
